96 points Luca Gardini: "The emblem of the great work of varietal research of San Felice in this Gran Selezione from Sangiovese at the 80% and a not extemporaneous participation of Abrusco, Pugnitello, black Malvasia, Ciliegiolo and Mazzese. Cranberry at the mouth, nuances of pepper leaves and licorice. The mouthfeel is brackish-sapid, sour cherry comeback. (Oct 2023)"

95 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The San Felice 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Grigio (made with 80% Sangiovese and 20% complementary indigenous grapes) stands out due to its velvety richness and expressive flavor profile. The wine delivers measured intensity with bright purple and black fruits, a good sense of energy and drive, and some lingering spiciness on the close. It is rich but not heavy. Drink 2023-2035 (Sep 2023)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "A sleek red, with solid grip wrapped around dark flavors of black cherry, blueberry and earth. Vibrant, with a slight burr to the chalky tannins on the iron-infused finish. Sangiovese, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo, Mazzese and Abrusco. Best from 2025 through 2042. (Oct 2023)"

93 points James Suckling: "This is spiced and racy with dark cherries, currants, savory herbs, walnuts and sandalwood. Medium- to full-bodied with ripe, powdery tannins, juicy acidity and a mineral backbone on the palate. Bright and fruit-forward in the finish. Drink or hold. (Jul 2023)"

93 points Michaela Morris (Decanter): "As with the estate’s annata, this Gran Selezione sees a healthy dollop of the rather obscure Pugnitello and Abrusco varieties – both lending a dark purple hue. As of 2020, their inclusion will be reduced from the current 20% to just 10% of the blend. Discreet scents of undergrowth and moist earth meld with tea, tobacco and thyme. Round and flattering, the wine envelops the palate. As it expands, it demonstrates its vigour. Dry tannins around the edges should soften further with time, yet this is nevertheless immediately inviting. Drinking window 2024-2031 (Feb 2023)"
