98 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide(2022).
97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a rich bouquet with plenty of fruit and perhaps the greatest presence of the five CSJ, although Fourrier's has greater delineation and precision. The oak is more noticeable, although it is still proportionate to the fruit. The palate is very well balanced, with fine depth and precision. Harmonious and palpably energetic on the finish, this is from the top-drawer, and it will continue to age for many years. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. Drink: 2028-2055. (Dec 2023)"
97 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "In 2019, Rousseau's large 2.2ha parcel of Clos-St-Jacques produced a wine that is decidedly lighter than the Chambertin and Bèze, but nonetheless impressively aromatic, with great depth of bright red and black fruit, floral aromas and a mineral note on the nose. On the palate, the texture is silky and subtle, with great freshness, but also the substance for long ageing. Drinking Window: 2024-2059. (10/24/20)"
95-97 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Powerful and dramatic, Rousseau's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques bursts from the glass with aromas of dark berries, cassis and plums mingled with notions of grilled meats, dark chocolate, exotic spices and loamy soil—all framed by cedary new oak. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's layered and elegantly muscular, with a deep core of fruit, powdery tannins and bright acids. (1/14/21)"
96 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 2.21 ha parcel raised in 80% new wood; Rousseau noted that a parcel of .18 ha was just pulled up to be replanted). Here too there is just enough wood to warrant mentioning framing the exceptionally spicy red berry fruit and floral-suffused aromas. There is fine density to the sleekly muscular and intense flavors that are blessed with fine mid-palate concentration on the tightly wound and sneaky long finish that is both balanced and notably firm, and which should enable this to evolve and improve for at least two decades. There is a hint of warmth but it's not enough to really detract from the overall sense of harmony. In a word, impressive. Drink: 2036+. (Jan 2022)"
95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Cyrielle Rousseau’s 2019 Clos St. Jacques is another stunning wine in the making. The youthful bouquet already shows excellent complexity in its constellation of plums, black cherries, grilled meats, a fine, fine base of dark soil tones, woodsmoke, a fine array of spice tones and a lovely framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and chewy, with excellent mid-palate depth, ripe, well-integrated tannins, excellent soil signature and a very, very long, poised and impeccably balanced finish. A great bottle of Clos St. Jacques. 2033-2090. (Jan/Feb 2022)"
95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A solid deep magenta colour. Warm deep, an initially welcoming heady fruit. This seems maybe a little smudged, perhaps a whisper too much alcohol. Blackcurrant and brambles with a fresher feel behind, but not completely harmonious. The length picks up the quality of the vineyard. A slightly awkward showing today, which may refine later. (Sep 2023)"
