92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Clos de la Roche has an attractive, characteristic stony nose. The wine shows density but also finesse to its dark fruit and mineral flavors, and also good length. The texture is smooth and there are round tannins underlying it. Up to here, there has been no new wood on the wines. (Issue #139; 2013)"

94 points (17/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "With a hint of reduction, Clos Saint-Jacques still speaks of its breeding. The mouth offers the strength of the clos with a note of vanilla that returns in retro-olfaction. The mouth remains more ample and voluminous but the whole must still integrate with ageing. (2014)"

91-94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a 1.48 ha holding, 1 ha of which is in Les Fremières and the rest in Clos de la Roche proper). An overtly spicy and very earth nose of red currant, plum and wet stone scents. There is lovely richness to the round, full-bodied and highly energetic medium-bodied flavors that exhibit firm tannins on the saline-infused finish. This is excellent and should reward mid to longer-term cellaring. Drink: 2023+. (Jan 2014)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2011 Clos de la Roche was also singing at the time of my visit, jumping from the glass in a blaze of red and black cherries, raw cocoa, a lovely base of minerality, fresh herb tones, violets and just a touch of spicy oak (again, this was raised entirely in one wine barrels and saw no new wood). On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very sappy at the core, with outstanding intensity, lovely complexity and outstanding focus and grip on the suavely-tannic and very, very long finish. A supremely elegant and very intense young Clos de la Roche. 2021-2050+. (Nov/Dec 2012)"

92.8 points CellarTracker.com community score.

92+ points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good bright, deep red. Tangy but tight aromas of small wild red and black berries and crushed rock. Densely packed and seamless but quite youthfully wound up, offering lovely inner-mouth tension to its concentrated berry, stone and spice flavors. Tannins are firm but suave. This is also in a rather masculine style. (Jan/Feb 2013)"

92 points Jeannie Cho Lee, MW (Decanter): "Spices, garrigue and herbal notes. Very sensual, elegant wine with silky tannins made from old vines. Long finish."
