99 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Majestic yet approachable, expressive and brilliant, the Chambertin is admirably deep and presents itself as sculpted, crafted and already polished, enhanced by notes of black fruit and bark. (2026)"

98 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2026).

98 points CellarTracker.com community score.

96-98 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "An even imperial purple. Broad shoulders from the start. Leave it a minute in the glass for the oak to settle down. The wine is only just beginning to show itself, but the massive structure will support the noble deep red fruit magnificently. The complete sense of harmony has been maintained. Just waiting for the fruit to return after spitting and here it comes. (Nov 2024)"

97 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The 2023 Rousseau Chambertin seems loathe to divulge its secrets; there is a forward, pretty black cherry and plum fruit aroma, but it seems to lack the gamey depth of the Clos St-Jacques and it is not yet showing the voluptuous, sensual nature of the Clos de Bèze. Experience tells us that with time this will blossom, and everything is in the right place, but at least for now it is not as expressive as the other cuvées. Cyrielle Rousseau explains that it takes longer to open because their parcel is at the base of the combe in the cool part of Chambertin. Drinking Window: 2030-2100. (11/12/24)"

97 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Domaine Rousseau’s 2023 Chambertin is simply gorgeous on both the nose and palate. The hauntingly beautiful bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of red and black plums, black cherries, raw cocoa, gamebird, a magically complex foundation of soil tones, a touch of fresh nutmeg, violets, woodsmoke and toasty oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure, deep at the core and dazzlingly complex, with lovely sappiness in the mid-palate, superb soil inflection and grip,. Ripe tannins, great focus and balance and a very, very long, fine-grained and soil-driven finish. My kind of wine! 2040-2100. (Jan/Feb 2025)"

97 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Fresh and open, the nose fills with vanilla, baking spice, cobbler fruits and forest breezes. Whereas many of the other crus are still coming together, this feels almost complete with the lightly crusty tannins nicely set into the sleekly ripe fruit and the peels of bustling acidity coursing through to the back palate. The extraordinary, highly satisfying long finish is captivating. There are four parcels spread throughout the cru, north to south and east to west, making this a very "complete" Chambertin. (2025)"

95-97 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Rousseau's 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of cassis, plums and sweet berry fruit, mingled with notions of licorice, vine smoke and spices. Full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's unctuous and seamless, with sweet, powdery tannins, succulent acids and an expansive finish. (Jan 2025)"

95-97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Chambertin Grand Cru has an exquisite, graceful bouquet with pure black cherries, raspberry and violet scents that soar from the glass. It shows exceptional delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and very good weight, more muscular than the Clos Saint-Jacques, with firm grip on the finish. This will require time, but there is huge potential. Drink: 2030-2060. (Jan 2025)"

94-97 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(2.55 ha; 100% new wood). A more restrained if even spicier nose is comprised by aromas of dark plum, exotic tea, earth, the sauvage and a lovely array of floral elements. I very much like the texture and minerality of the bigger-bodied but sleek favors that also display focused power on the moderately austere, hugely long and beautifully well-balanced finale. This is slightly less austere and compact than it usually is though with that said, it should have no trouble amply repaying long-term cellaring. Drink: 2041+. (Jan 2025)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "Extra breadth and extra high tones here too – super aromatics. The fluidity of the CSJ but with more depth of flavour. Here is the balance of concentration and fluidity – then a peak of flavour – ooh, now thats impressive and next level length, even after the CSJ – wait as long as you like, that’s clearly a great wine! (Jan 2025)"
