98 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Youthful dark colour. An impressive nose, a briary element hinting at some stems, but the energy of the fruit prevails. Sublime, beautifully balanced, a graceful coating of velvet dark fruit, over a really fine boned structure. Very long indeed. Magical wine. (Sep 2017)"

97 points (18.5/20)/'Le Coup de l'Année,' La Revue du Vin de France: "[Roumier's] Ruchottes-Chambertin is invariably spicy. The texture is reminiscent of small millerandage grapes, giving it a dense mouthfeel. Tasty. (2017)"

96.7 points CellarTracker.com community score.

96 points Tim Atkin, MW (2016).

95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "This is a great young vintage of Roumier Ruchottes, as the wine shows off great depth of sappy fruit, superb transparency and a very suave structural chassis that will carry it far into the future in style. The stunning nose jumps from the glass in a blaze of red and black cherries, plums, cocoa, chalky soil tones, a hint of almond, vanillin oak and a pungent topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with a sappy core, fine-grained tannins and stunning elegance and focus on the very long and very soil-driven finish. A great, great young Ruchottes. 2025-2075. (Nov/Dec 2015)"

94 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting, Christophe Roumier's 2014 Ruchottes Chambertin Grand Cru had a touch of volatile acidity on the nose, more feisty and fruit-driven than its peers, the barrel more pronounced and clearly requiring more time to be fully assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, more austere in style but nicely proportioned. There is impressive tension and salinity toward the marine-influenced finish and it feels very persistent. Give it 3 or 4 years in bottle. Tasted September 2017. (Oct 2017)"

94 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Good dark red Alluring scents of cherry, purple fruits and spices, plus a hint of game At once velvety and light on its feet, with pungent saline minerality and inner-mouth floral lift to its intense purple fruit flavors This penetrating, sharply delineated, weightless wine finishes with subtly complex minerality and terrific lift Drink: 2024-2036. (Mar 2017)"

94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .54 ha parcel). An all but invisible application of wood frames the spicy, floral, earth and sauvage-inflected red and dark currant, violet and plums scents. There is both good intensity and freshness to the muscular and more mineral-driven medium weight plus flavors that terminate in a distinctly austere if hugely long finish. This is noticeably less evolved at present than any of the prior wines and is clearly going to require extended cellaring. Drink: 2031+. (Jan 2017)"
