97-99 points/'Five Star Wine,' Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Significantly richer and deeper in colour, we are in fully sumptuous territory here. This is a great Bonnes Mares with layer after layer of fruit and the strict structure of Roumier wines which guaranteed s long ageing. The quality and intensity of the dark berried fruit are amazing, and there is no sense of over-ripeness. Instead, a brilliant fresh feel to the finish with crisp white pepper. 75-80% whole bunches used. Drink from 2032-2045. Tasted Nov 2024."
96-98 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is shaping up brilliantly, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries and mulberries mingled with blood orange, musky spices and rose petals. Full-bodied, cool and layered, it's rich but mineral, with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and sweet, powdery tannins. As ever, this is a broad-shouldered wine, but it remains impeccably balanced. (Jan 2025)"
95-97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is comprised of four different cuvées this year. Some fruit was declassified and blended with the Bourgogne Rouge. The fermenters were full this vintage. The bouquet has fabulous delineation, with subtle mineral/crushed stone infusing the blackberry and blueberry fruit. The palate is supremely well balanced with wonderful structure and tension from the start. It's classic in style, though it will need a few years to absorb the 75% whole bunch. It will be worth the wait. Drink: 2028-2055. (Jan 2025)"
93-96 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "From six different parcels totaling 1.89 ha that are divided between 30% terres rouges and 70% terres blanches. A slightly riper nose features notes of poached plum, discreet spice and a plethora of floral elements, especially violet, lilac and rose petal. The broad-shouldered flavors are rich to the point of opulence while coating the palate with sappy dry extract on the hugely long, balanced and even firmer finale where a touch of bitter chocolate eventually appears. This is a big but harmonious wine that could probably be approached after 10-ish years or so. In a word, terrific. Drink: 2041+. (Jan 2025)"
95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "There are four parcels here—three on the Chambolle end that are more or less equally split equally between Bonnes Mares' white and red soils. This has the grippiest tannins in the cellar this year, but they are working on meshing into a richly vinous background of sweet cherries, plums and boysenberries. Besides, the singing, mouthwatering acidity wipes up any residual dryness at the moment. Tobacco, anise and charcoal dust give this additional intrigue on the palate and drawn-out finish. Like the Echézeaux, this saw 80% whole cluster. (2025)"
