93-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A fine deep and even purple. Much less can be seen on the nose compared to in the mouth. First a burst of fresh raspberry, then Roty style tannins, at the moment dissociated but I don’t feel they will remain this way, especially as there is a burst of ripe and generous fruit behind. The tannins are certainly present but no problem for the future. Very long finish. Drink from 2032-2039. Tasted Nov 2023."

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Fontenys stands out this year, wafting from the glass with notes of cherries and cassis mingled with licorice and violets. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a suave, seamless profile, it's well worth seeking out. Drink: 2028-2045. (Jan 2025)"

93+ points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru is a little taciturn on the nose with well-defined red fruit (cranberry and raspberry) and more floral scents unfolding in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with chiseled tannins. It's sapid and spicy toward the finish but also quite backward. This will demand four or five years in the bottle before it shows what it is capable of. Drink: 2027-2049. (Jan 2025)"

93 points/'Outstanding' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 80+ year old vines). Once again the nose is ripe yet cool and airy with its combination of various dark berries, violet and spice wisps. The rich and solidly concentrated medium-bodied flavors display unusually good power on the stony, very firm and long finish that is borderline robust. This is not a Fontenys of refinement but it is nonetheless impressive in its fashion. Drink: 2034+. (Jan 2024)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "A narrow top note, the aroma also with a little soil and smoke complexity. More muscular and layered with impressive structure that’s famed with a faint tannin. Great finishing once more – this more with power than the dimension of the previous. Wait 10 years – very classy wine here! (1/16/25)"
