93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "One of the denser colours. There is a lot going on here on the nose, not yet revealing all its detail. The mouth shows it all, still with a fresher edge from this less ripe vintage, the finish is properly fine, as the fruit is in place and the oak has given up its ground. More raspberry than strawberry in the Fonteny. Drink from 2027-2035. Tasted: November 2023."

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Fontenys 1er Cru has a stoic bouquet at first, although it needs a few swirls of the glass to reveal attractive black cherry, raspberry and rose petal scents. It's soon found its voice and feels open and expressive. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, fine grip and mineralité, gaining depth towards the sorbet-fresh finish with traces of fresh fig and brown spices. A lot is happening here, and it should develop with style in bottle. Drink: 2026-2045. (Jan 2024)"
