96-99 points/'Five Stars' Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy): "Three plots, all with ancient vines. Pretty dark in its purple colour. A suggestion of succulence on the nose and an explosion of dense fruit on the palate. This has so much to give and it is already giving it, despite the extraction, the tannins and its youth. Several times more concentration in the mouth than either of the others with an extraordinary depth of finish. Drink from 2037-2050. Tasted Nov 2023."

97 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes is terrific, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries and dark berries mingled with notions of licorice, violets, rose petals and spices. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's concentrated and multidimensional, with the most body and incipient complexity of any wine in the range, concluding with a long, expansive finish. Drink: 2030-2060. (Jan 2025)"

95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru clearly has the most intense bouquet, with hints of black cherry, briar, boysenberry and blood orange. The palate is structured and powerful. The new oak (100%) is a little more evident compared to Roty's other Grand Crus, and at the moment, this defines the dark chocolate-tinged finish. Patience will certainly be required. Drink: 2030-2055. (Jan 2025)"

94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .16 ha holding of 3 parcels in Charmes proper of vines planted in 1885 that have never been pulled up though Roty points out that those that have died over the years have been replanted). Moderate oak and a hint of menthol influence is present on the attractively fresh and exuberantly spicy nose of dark raspberry liqueur, sauvage and earth scents. As is almost always the case, there is good muscle and excellent punch to the lightly mineral-inflected large-bodied flavors that possess focused power on the tightly wound and overtly structured finish where the wood influence reflected by the nose reappears. This is often the class of the Roty range though in 2022 the Griotte will give it a run for its money though time will of course be the ultimate arbiter. Drink: 2037+. (Jan 2025)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(About 60% of the original 1881 vines remain, but some of the replacements are already old vines in their own right. ‘A place with extremities of heat and cold and dryness – it’s this richness that brings the material…’) Less width but extra density of aroma. Linear, silken, ultra-concentrated – ultra-refined texture. Slowly more fluid, so much more contemplative and composed vs the previous GCs. Class that unwinds over the palate. Not the frenetic delivery of the Griotte yet still more – a great wine – this used to be a wine that you had to wait for – you still can – but the accessibility in this 2022 is palpable though – another Grand Vin. (1/16/25)"
