95 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): "About as voluptuous and sexy a la Landonne as I've tasted from Rene, the 2013 Cote Rotie la Landonne excels in the vintage and offers rock star notes of violets, black and blue fruits, olive and pepper. Full-bodied, layered, beautifully concentrated and with ripe tannin, it needs 4-5 years of cellaring and will keep for two decades or more. Drink: 2020-2040. (Dec 2015)"

95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2013 La Landonne from René Rostaing is a beautiful synthesis of the inherent elegance of the vintage and the stones and smoky fruit tones of the vineyard. The bouquet is deep, nascently complex and very promising, wafting from the glass in a blend of raspberries, smoked cherries, pepper, a touch of chocolate, marvelous soil tones, a touch of hazelnut, gamebird, youthful stems and just a whisper of cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, transparent and shows off great mid-palate depth, with excellent focus and balance, a sappy core and a very long, ripely tannic, palate-staining and still quite youthful finish. This is going to be a great La Landonne from Monsieur Rostaing, but it will need some extended cellaring to reach its apogee. 2025-2075. (Sep/Oct 2016)"

94 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "Inky ruby. Vibrant blackberry, violet pastille, anise and smoky mineral aromas are complemented by a suave spicecake nuance. Concentrated, palate-staining black and blue fruit flavors show excellent depth and focus, while hints of star anise and licorice build in the glass. Silky, smoky and seamless on the strikingly long and incisive finish, which is shaped by gentle tannins. Notes of licorice and candied flowers linger. Drink: 2020-2027. (Mar 2016)"

94 points Wine Spectator: "Solid, with a bay leaf and olive streak piercing the core of dark cherry and steeped plum fruit. A tangy iron edge drives the finish, with a juniper echo checking in at the very end. Shows good range and definition. Best from 2017 through 2027. 50 cases imported. (9/30/16)"
