96 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): "Getting a big 'Wow' in the notes, the 2012 Cote Rotie la Landonne offers additional richness, concentration and depth, with notes of lots of floral and violet notes intermixed with cassis, cruhsed rock and pepper. Full-bodied, concentrated and with building tannin, it needs 4-5 years in the cellar and will keep for 20-25+. (Dec 2014)"

93.6 points CellarTracker.com community score.

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2012 La Landonne from René Rostaing was showing great promise, even though this was a barrel sample that had been sent over to New York several weeks before the tasting. 2012 is not a highly acclaimed vintage in Côte-Rôtie, but following the axiom that the most terroir- specific vintages are going to be the less lauded years, this wine is already singing with soil tones. It was a short crop, as Monsieur Rostaing production was off by a third of a “normal vintage.” The 2012 La Landonne offers up a pure and youthfully complex nose of black raspberries, cassis, superb soil tones, a bit of venison and coffee. On the palate the wine is deep, fairly full-bodied and showing lovely potential for both complexity and transparency, with a fine core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, cool and classic finish. All this beauty needs is some bottle age! 2020-2050. (Sep/Oct 2014)"

93 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "[$180 list] Glass-staining ruby. Potent, smoke-tinged black and blue fruit scents, along with notes of pencil lead, violet and allspice. Spicy and incisive on the palate, offering vibrant blackcurrant and bitter cherry flavors that put on weight with air. Shows excellent clarity and power on the extremely long, spice-laced finish, which features youthfully chewy tannins and a whiplash of candied flowers. Drink: 2018-2035. (Feb 2015)"
