Full-bodied, ample and powerful, with a deep and layered core, lively acids and a beautifully pearly mousse, it's a long, sapid Champagne that's showing very well today. As Lecaillon observes, the Vinothèque is the house's riposte to "everyone who says Cristal is released too young—with the Vinothèque releases, we've exaggerated the aging process to make Cristal more powerful and more dramatic." Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon: ‘this was maybe my most difficult vintage. Hail on 2 July destroyed most of the Pinot Noir on the Montagne de Reims. This is the only Cristal whose Pinot Noir comes mainly from Aÿ rather than the (hailed) Montagne de Reims, so it’s a smoother, rounder style.’Very savoury with lots of acidity. Lots of texture and a chewy, reverberant finish. Drinking Window: 2022-2028. (11/18/21)"
