97 points Essi Avellan, MW: "This impressive Cristal Vinothèque has atypical richness due to high proportions of southern Montagne de Reims fruit in the blend. It shows some age at first with dried apricot fruit, roasted nuts and smoky tones. But it grows in strength and freshness over time in the glass. Wide and fleshy with the creamiest mousse, Cristal’s hallmark acidity kicks in on the back-palate, bringing freshness and salinity to the fore. (Apr 2021)"

95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Disgorged four years ago, with four grams per liter dosage, after a decade sur lattes and six years sur pointes, the 2000 Cristal Vinothèque bursts with notes of golden orchard fruit, mandarin, white flowers and iodine. Full-bodied, ample and powerful, with a deep and layered core, lively acids and a beautifully pearly mousse, it's a long, sapid Champagne that's showing very well today. As Lecaillon observes, the Vinothèque is the house's riposte to "everyone who says Cristal is released too young—with the Vinothèque releases, we've exaggerated the aging process to make Cristal more powerful and more dramatic." And this release is certainly a formidable effort in a vintage impacted by hail in the Montagne de Reims. Drink: 2021-2035. (Sep 2021)"

95 points James Suckling: "Very fine bubbles and a gold color with a tinge of orange. Aromas of pie crust, cooked apple, honey, dried apple and pear crumble follow through to a full-bodied palate with a soft and round texture. This is silky and very rich and flavorful. It’s showing its age now, with toffee, biscuit and hints of candied walnut in the aftertaste. This is a Champagne that’s showing age and complexity now. Drink now. (1/5/22)"

19/20 points Jancis Robinson, MW: "Magnum. Disgorged in 2018, dosage 8 g/l. 58% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay. 24% of the cuvée is fermented in oak. 12 years sur lattes, five years sur pointes and four years’ rest after disgorgement. Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon: ‘this was maybe my most difficult vintage. Hail on 2 July destroyed most of the Pinot Noir on the Montagne de Reims. This is the only Cristal whose Pinot Noir comes mainly from Aÿ rather than the (hailed) Montagne de Reims, so it’s a smoother, rounder style.’Very savoury with lots of acidity. Lots of texture and a chewy, reverberant finish. Drinking Window: 2022-2028. (11/18/21)"
