94 points Wine Spectator: "Rich and dense, and still quite primal, delivering layered flavors of creamed pear, fig, green plum, roasted almond, honey and buttered brioche. Dense, with gorgeous mouthfeel and a long, honeyed finish. Has the power to last for some time. Best from 2014 through 2030. 1,800 cases made. (2011)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Meslier family’s Château Raymond-Lafon was very successful in 2001 and the wine is now starting to drink very nicely indeed. The nose wafts from the glass in a deep and refined blend of apricot, tangerine, honey, toasted coconut, a fine base of limestone soil and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and still fairly youthful in profile, with fine mid-palate depth, bright acids and fine focus and grip on the long and complex finish. A lovely vintage of this outstanding property. 2018-2050. (Jan/Feb 2018)"

93 points Robert Parker: "A tightly-knit but unctuous effort, Raymond-Lafon’s 2001 exhibits aromas of espresso roast intermixed with honeyed peaches, apricots, lychee nuts, and a hint of coconut. A full-throttle heavyweight, it will be at its finest between 2008-2025+. (Jun 2004)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2001 Raymond-Lafon has an attractive but understated nose of peach skin, saffron and light praline aromas. The well-balanced palate is taut and crisp with a fine bead of acidity, offering flavors of orange peel and quince and gently fanning out with touches of gingerbread toward the elegant finish. What a pretty and delicious Sauternes! Drink: 2021-2040. (Sep 2021)"
