94 points Tim Atkin, MW. (2018)

93 points (16.5/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "With its sparkling flesh and fern notes, Montmains confirms its success in a vintage that brings it tension and makes it balanced, intense, and persistent. (2019)"

92.5 points CellarTracker.com community score.

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): " I love the mineral expression of the 2016 Montmains from the Raveneau family, as there is a very real crystalline expression to the soil tones here this year. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a refined blend of pear, lemon, spring flowers and a complex base of minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely ripe on the attack, with a fine core, excellent focus and grip and superb backend tension on the long, poised and vibrant finish. A fine, fine bottle in the making. 2020-2045. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

90-92 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "(production of 30 hectoliters per hectare): Bright lemon-yellow. Aromas of lemon and minerals plus a suggestion of resiny reduction. Fat, ripe and sweet, displaying good breadth to its flavors of lemon and powdered stone. Best today on the building finish, which offers classic notes of citrus zest and stony minerality. This is in a rather easygoing style and should offer relatively early drinkability. (Aug 2017)"

91 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2016 Chablis Les Montmains 1er Cru has a very composed bouquet with dried honey, orange zest and light fennel aromas, perhaps less mineralité than previous vintages yet still very attractive. The palate is clean and precise, quite linear and tightly wound at the moment, but there is impressive weight matched with elegance towards the finish with flecks of white chocolate lingering on the aftertaste. Classy. Drink: 2019-2030. (Aug 2018)"

91 points William Kelley (Decanter): "A bouquet of wet stones, white flowers, apple and struck flint introduces a full-bodied, supple, elegantly glossy wine with good depth and tension; this is a bit ampler than the Forêt and a bit more giving too; a wine which should give a great deal of pleasure early in its career. Drinking Window: 2020-2030. (10/19/17)"

91 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .37 ha holding of relatively young vines in Montmains proper). Fresh and markedly floral aromas of pear and sea breeze reflect a hint of lychee. There is a sleeker mouth feel to the lightly mineral-infused, delicious and appealingly textured middle weight flavors that culminate in a clean and reasonably dry finish. This notably rich effort isn't classically styled but it offers enough Chablis typicity to be convincing. Drink: 2023+. (Oct 2018)"
