96 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2025).
95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "This is a masterpiece of a Montée de Tonnerre, by far the best of the vintage—at least that I have tasted. The palate combusts to create a dazzling array of dynamic fruit flavors: creamyripe persimmon, guava and Bosc pear all factor in. Acidity flashes across the voluptuous mid-palate to deliver ample refreshment and age-ability. While this offers upfront electricity, it's best to wait several years to a decade to fully enjoy this wine's depth. (2025)"
95 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "A benchmark Montée de Tonnerre. The domaine has 3.1ha in total, made up of a blend of 10 different plots within Chapelot and Pied d'Aloup, vines aged from 10-60 years. Distinct notes of crisp green apple, cool on the nose and palate with great freshness. Impressive stony, mineral characters support the concentration. A profound rendition in which elegance meets power. For long-term ageing. Drinking Window: 2025-2032. (10/18/23)"
94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is also a strong performer this year, reminiscent of a more open version of the terrific 2020. Delivering aromas of orange oil, pear and green apple mingled with hints of white flowers, buttery pastry and oyster shell, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with bright acids and a long, saline finish. Drink: 2025-2045. (9/7/23)"
94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a very minerally bouquet, crushed limestone, sea cave and fleeting glimpses of citrus fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, very citrus lemon. A little sourness towards the finish lends energy and tension. Superb. Drink: 2028-2050. (Aug 2024)"
94 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from several parcels totaling 3 ha with two-thirds of it in Chapelot and the remainder in Pied d'Aloup). A more elegant nose freely offers up its combination of airy white flowers, wet stone, spice, citrus, oyster shell and subtle quinine wisps. As is usually the case, the mouthfeel of the vibrant middle weight flavors is positively sublime and this markedly more sophisticated texture carries over to the almost painfully intense, mineral-driven and even longer finish that is bone-dry and quite austere at present. This is a stunner of MdT and a wine that should also repay extended keeping. Like the Butteaux, if you can find it, buy it and then forget you own it for a decade, or more. Drink: 2034+. (Oct 2024)"
