96 points (18/20) La Revue du Vin de France: "The 2017 frost hit Montée de Tonnerre and Valmur the hardest... More concentrated and cool, Montée de Tonnerre is a little austere but full of sap, metholated flavors and citrus. It's a textured wine, with structuring bitters. (2020)"

95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is one of the classiest and most refined wines in this range. Light, gracious and impossibly refined, the Montée de Tonnerre shows why this premier cru is so highly regarded. All the elements are perfectly in place. Silky, pliant and wonderfully expressive, with terrific energy, the Montée de Tonnerre hits all the right notes. In a word: sublime. Drink: 2022-2037. (Jan 2020)"

95 points James Suckling: "A very complex array of fruits. All shades of citrus and stone fruits with a fleshy palate, showing white peach sorbet. Freshness with power. There’s a lot of composure here. Refined and opulent with length and focus. Drink or hold. (7/23/18)"

92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Just 15 hl/ha for the second year in a row. Fresh pale colour but with more weight and richer fruit to the nose. Indeed the bouquet starts to blossom with time in the glass. Rather beautiful, and more elegant than this vineyard can sometimes be. (May 2018)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "With the Montée de Tonnerre being the most heavily-frosted of the Domaine Raveneau premier cru parcels, it is not surprising that this wine was lagging a bit behind the other premier crus in the cellar in mid-November. The nose is quite reticent, but eventually offers up scents of apple, pear, complex, chalky minerality, dried flowers, beeswax and just a hint of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a bit more concentration than usual from the low yields. The finish is long, poised and displays an excellent structural chassis for long-term development, with racy acids, impeccable mineral drive and excellent grip, and despite this wine lagging a bit in development at the present time, it seems very likely to be flat out brilliant once it blossoms. 2024-2060. (Nov/Dec 2018)"

93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre is also performing well, despite what was a challenging vintage for the Raveneau family's holdings in this, their emblematic premier cru. Offering up aromas of ripe Meyer lemon, green apples, white flowers and almond paste, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with a broader, more powerful profile than the Butteaux but with less cut and not quite the same length on the finish. Drink: 2023-2040. (8/30/19)"

93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from several parcels totaling 2.5 ha with two-thirds of it in Chapelot and the remainder in Pied d'Aloup). Here too soft wood is present on the wonderfully floral and citrus imbued aromas that are laced with hints of mineral reduction and quinine. The gorgeously textured medium-bodied flavors possess much better depth and persistence on the well-balanced finale. This classy effort should be lovely and age gracefully for years. Drink: 2029+. (Oct 2019)"
