96 points Tim Atkin, MW. (2018)
94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Montée de Tonnerre from Domaine Raveneau is a classic in the making. The pure and nascently complex bouquet delivers a lovely blend of lemon, pear, chalky and complex minerality, a hint of licorice and a topnote of spring flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full and racy in profile, with a superb core, great focus and grip, racy acids and excellent backend mineral drive on the very long, vibrant finish. 2020-2050. (Nov/Dec 2017)"
94 points William Kelley (Decanter): "The Montée de Tonnerre is superb this year, bursting from the glass with a complex bouquet of apple blossom, tangerine, confit citrus, peach and an intriguing top note of mint. On the palate the wine is deep, intensely concentrated, stony and complete, with first class cut and grip through the long and flavourful finish. Drinking Window: 2022-2035. (10/19/17)"
93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2016 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has a refined, detailed and mineral driven bouquet with touches of flint and granite percolating through the crisp Granny Smith apple aromas. The palate is very detailed and full of tension, razor-sharp precision here with a supremely well detailed, poised, slightly bitter finish that electrifies the senses. This is superb: one of the best from l'equipe Raveneau this year. Drink: 2021-2038. (Aug 2018)"
93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from several parcels totaling 3 ha with two-thirds of it in Chapelot and the remainder in Pied d'Aloup). Here the petrol character displayed by several of the preceding wines is quite prominent on the acacia blossom, citrus rind and white-fleshed fruit scents. I very much like the mouth feel of the sleekly muscular, intense and sappy medium weight flavors that possess plenty of mouth coating dry extract that also buffers the moderately firm acid spine that shapes the well-balanced and impressively long finish. By the normal standards of this wine, the 2016 MdT is much more robust than usual though still impressive. Drink: 2024+. (Oct 2018)"
93 points James Suckling: "The largest plot of Raveneau, which occupies three hectares, one third of the domaine. 10 plots blended together. The most important wine of the domaine. A neat, stony nose. Very mineral and very stony with ripe fleshy peaches and lemons. There’s a very smooth, fleshy and fresh edge. Ripe lemons and grilled white peaches. So complete and majestic. Drink or hold. (7/20/18)"
