96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "A feeling of sunshine emanates from Butteaux, which quickly returns to the pebbles. It combines vitality and silkiness with a warm-cool edge and a particular concentration derived from these old vines, which produce small grapes despite the clay-rich soil. (2025)"

96 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2025).

95 ponts Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "These two parcels sit at the windy top of the Butteaux slope, and the wine clearly shows its chilly positioning in its aromas and structures. Key limes, star fruits and pomelos zip across the high-toned, moderate-bodied palate. Plus, this is tangy from the start to the admirably unrelenting finish that shows light leesiness. (2024)"

94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2022 Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with yellow plum, jasmine, gunflint and a touch of smoke, becoming more harmonious as it blossoms in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a keen thread of acidity. Steely and tight at the moment, I suggest cellaring this for longer than others. Excellent. Drink: 2027-2050. (Aug 2024)"

94 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "A profound, deep character evident on the nose. Weighty, powerful palate with oak evident in the background and a creamy texture. Notes of spice and a touch of orange box. Very crisp and fresh on the finish. This will age into a very fine premier cru. Vines on average over 50 years old. Drinking Window: 2025-2031. (10/18/23)"

94 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 1.49 ha holding of 40+ year old vines). The ripe yet cool nose reflects prominent mineral reduction on the aromas of essence of white orchard fruit, shellfish and iodine which is also trimmed in the barest hint of wood. As is usually the case, this is the biggest wine among the 1ers with its powerful and concentrated medium weight plus flavors that possess a gorgeous, if not necessarily sophisticated, texture on the palate staining and hugely long finale. This is a 'buy and forget you own it' wine that should amply repay 12 to 15 years of keeping - besides it needs to develop better depth so it might as well slumber undisturbed for a while! Drink: 2034+. (Oct 2024)"

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A pure pale and clear colour, with a certain fleshiness, all white fruit, the usual suggestion of changing banks. A lighter reduction than Montmains, much more energy behind, lifted with excellent acidity, marine notes with just a light squeeze of lemon. Fuller bodied at the finish. Drink from 2027-2035. Tasted May 2023."

93+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux has performed well, as this site and its old vines tend to in dry, sunny vintages. Unwinding in the glass to reveal aromas of green apple, oyster shell and bread dough, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny, with a layered, textural profile that's underpinned by good cut, concluding with a saline finish. Drink: 2025-2045. (9/7/23)"
