96 points Kerin O'Keefe: "The 2019 Ovello Riserva is succulent and enveloping, offering scents of dark-skinned berry, forest floor, violet and new leather. Full-bodied with impressive structure and fruit, it boasts ripe raspberry, black cherry and licorice supported by firm, close-grained tannins that provide the backbone. Fresh acidity keeps it well balanced. Drink: 2029–2044. Abv: 14.5%. (Jan 2024)"

95 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello displays a similar youthful red color but is riper and more seductive in its floral perfume of violets, black raspberries, tea leaf, and sweet herbs. It is broader and rounder on the palate, with ripe tannins, a bit more of an expansive feel, and a touch of warmth on the finish. It’s going to drink well over the next 15-20 years. Drink: 2024-2044. (5/13/24)"

95 points/'Editors' Choice,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$85 list] A perfect mixed garden, with aromas of turned soil, blackberries ready to be picked, herbs fragrantly filling the air and warmed raspberries sitting in their basked weave their way into and out of the glass. Savory flavors of mixed herbs, tobacco and licorice root open the palate as flavors of cherry and marionberries pop with fresh acidity against a frame of elegant and taut tannins. Drink 2026 - 2050. Alcohol 14.5%. (Sep 2024)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is powerful, savory and intensely linear, in classico Ovello style, and yet it appears to have enough fruit behind its imposing tannins to develop well over the coming years. In this tasting, the Ovello feels pretty closed post bottling, but its inherent balance and qualities are there. Clean saline notes extend the finish in promising fashion. Drink: 2026-2041. (Oct 2023)"

94 points Ian D'Agata: "Dark red. A bit reticent on the nose, which is something I often find in almost all Barbarescos from the Ovello cru. Then broad and ripe (also something I often find in wines from Ovello) with fleshy and almost fat flavours of kiwi, red fruit and minerals. Finishes with a sappy dense clinging quality and youthful tannins that are still chewy and resolving. Only needs a little more time to show better. Drinking window: 2027-2038. (Oct 2024)"

93 points James Suckling: "Leafy lightness with a meaty character and earthy cherry and pomegranate notes. Firm tannins and crisp acidity on the classic, extracted palate, with massive structure, a medium body and a juicy finish. Drink or hold. (5/17/24)"
