92 points Erin Brooks (Wine Advocate): "The 2021 Syrah Santa Barbara County is scented of black raspberries, candied blackberries, cracked pepper, smoked meats and green olive. The medium-bodied palate is bright and chalky with restrained yet nuanced fruit and a long, latent finish. I would be inclined to drink it on the earlier side after a couple hours in a decanter, and its freshness will allow it to pair widely at the table. Drink: 2025-2035. (12/29/23)"

91 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2021 Syrah (Santa Barbara County) is fabulous. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, black pepper, herbs, incense and tobacco all build in this racy, almost shockingly opulent young Syrah. This dense, juicy Syrah is lights out. The 30% stems are pretty much buried by the fruit. Drink: 2023-2029. (Sep 2023)"

Producer notes: "100% Syrah which includes portions of fruit from Sebastiano in the Sta. Rita Hills, Bien Nacido in the Santa Maria Valley, and Harrison Clarke in Ballard Canyon. Vinification involves indigenous fermentation in open concrete tank and aging in neutral French oak. The nose shows game, espresso, olive tapenade, white pepper, mint, and deep black cherry. The palate is moderate in weight with up front espresso, game, and full black cherry coming though with air."
