Slightly austere at this stage, it finishes long and sappy with a licorice-inflected aftertaste. This blend of 78% Pinot Noir and 22% Chardonnay, disgorged in March 2024 with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter, did not undergo malolactic fermentation. A medium straw/golden color, it’s expressive in the glass with ripe, savory notes of black cherries, sous bois, delicate toast spice, umami savory notes, and yeasty fresh baked bread. Full-bodied, it fills the palate with a very long and sapid mid-palate richness, revealing accented notes of grapefruit on the finish. It’s long lasting and has a kiss of warmth, which is to be expected in this vintage, although it remains very much in balance, with a noble feel. An exceptional wine from 2015, the team at Philipponnat knocked these 2015s out of the park. This and their other 2015s are likely going to develop into great examples of how wines with powerful, rich structures in warm vintages can age without relying solely on acidity to carry the torch. Faint reductive notes blow off to reveal wonderfully fresh, creamy aromas of gariguette strawberry, rhubarb, vervain, crushed oyster shell and lightly toasted brioche. Medium-bodied with a pure, ripe fruit core and stimulating acidity adding a shimmering vibrancy to the delicate, pinpoint mousse. Overall this 2015 has a beautifully restrained, high-toned intensity that resonates like the constant tone of a tuning fork through the long, ethereal finish. In 2015, all of the lots were vinified in oak, which lends notable textural resonance and poise. Pear, spicecake, ginger, dried flowers and a kiss of oak are all dialed up. There is an underlying vegetal note lurking beneath, typical of the year, but it's nicely integrated. The long finish is striking. The 2015 opens beautifully with air, gaining in both precision and tension. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March 2024. Drink: 2025-2055. (Apr 2025)"

96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Philipponnat’s 2015 Clos des Goisses is the first vintage of this iconic Champagne to have one hundred percent of its vins clairs barrel-fermented and aged in cask. None of the vins clairs underwent malolactic fermentation. The wine this year is crafted from a cépages of seventy-eight percent pinot noir and twenty-two percent chardonnay. It was disgorged in March of 2024 and finished with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter. The wine’s bouquet is stunning, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, white peach, fresh-baked bread, a complex base of chalky soil tones, hazelnut, dried flowers, incipient notes of smokiness and a very discreet touch of oak. On the palate the wine is pure, precise and full-bodied, with great depth of fruit at the core, superb soil signature, refined mousse, a fine girdle of acidity and a very long, complex and impeccably balanced finish. This is a great, great wine in the making. It is already very easy to drink, but given Clos des Goisses’ stunning track record for aging, there is little doubt that the wine will be even better ten or twenty years down the road! 2025-2075. 96 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(78% pinot noir, 22% chardonnay, 1,573 cases, disgorged March 2024, 4.5 g/L). The 2015 vintage in Champagne is a certainly quite ripe yet Philipponnat seems to have harvested at the perfect time because blind, you wouldn't necessarily know that the Clos des Goisses is the product of such a hot and dry growing season. I say this because the strikingly layered nose is exuberantly fresh with its notes of green apple, quinine, just sliced citrus, petrol, spice and floral nuances, all liberally laced with yeasty wisps. There is fine volume and impressive density to the intense but rich and expansive flavors that are supported by a wonderfully fine-bead mousse on the clean, complex and classy finish that, at present anyway, seems a bit drier than the stated dosage would suggest. Even so, this is not austere and the balance is impeccable. A potentially great Clos des Goisses and one that could already be approached even though I would suggest holding off until 2030 before digging in with any seriousness and 2032 would likely be better still. One of the best 'lux' 2015s that I've tried to this point. Drink: 2030+. (Apr 2025)"

It’s superbly fine and silky on the palate, with very soft bubbles and bright acidity underpinning the mellow fruit, honey and saline nuances. On the other hand there's a beguiling gracefulness and polish here which, despite the firm structure, speak of real ripeness and careful extraction. 2015 does tend to present some slightly herbal aromatics, but these stop a long way from detracting from this fine, if singular, vintage of Clos des Goisses.
