95 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Bottled in August 2019, Butteaux has undergone almost three years of aging. The precision of the vintage is perfectly suited to this long maturation process. The wine has developed nuanced flavors and retained a sharp, very stimulating character, without the slightest hint of austerity. Nevertheless, it deserves to be left to age a little longer. (2021)"

91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Tasted from tank, Pico's 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux Mise Tardive is wilder in profile than either the '15 or '17 renditions, displaying aromas of waxy lemon, bruised pear, apricot, mint and vine smoke. On the palate, it's full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a tangy spine of acidity and an aromatic finish. I don't think this will ever rival the vintages that bracket it, but it's a fine effort in a very challenging vintage. (Aug 2019)"

91-93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2016 Chablis Butteaux 1er Cru is a very pretty, airy wine that remains light on its feet with soft contours. White flowers, mint, lime and jasmine come together in an exotic perfume. The 2016 has tremendous flavor intensity while remaining gracious and elegant. (Jan 2020)"
