96 points Wine & Spirits: "[$106 list] Paco Rodero Villa founded this winery based on the vineyards that his father, Doroteo, had tended when he wasn’t serving as a practicante del medico (what we might call a nurse practitioner). This wine comes from a small parcel of 90-year-old vines adjacent to the bodega. The soil at the site is gravel under clay loam, and the tannins feel just as gravelly, their potent extract needing days of air to bring the structure into focus and the delicious fruit to the fore. What is black and concentrated at first develops a sunny, open character, a view into herbs and red cherries that leaven the wine’s overall intensity. This will continue to gain detail and complexity over the next ten years. (Jun 2022)"
