99 points James Suckling: "The purity of fruit is really something else here, with currants and fresh flowers, such as violets and roses. Flower stems as well. Fantastic length and structure to the wine, with tightness and focus. Wonderful fruit. Graceful. A blend of 78% cabernet sauvignon, 8% merlot, 7% petit verdot, 6% cabernet franc and 1% malbec. Try after 2028. (8/9/22)"

99 points International Wine Report: "The 2019 Opus One is a sensational wine and amongst one of the finest vintages in its storied history. It offers a beautifully expressive nose, filled with aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and luscious dark plums, complemented by fresh violets and undertones of tobacco and fresh and savory herbs. Subtle hints of spices and graphite emerge, along with a distinct minerality reminiscent of pencil shavings, adding to the wine's complexity. On the palate, this full-bodied Cabernet is polished and elegant, showcasing a ripe, sweet core that is both concentrated and vibrant. The wine's freshness is perfectly balanced by its lively acidity, resulting in a refined mouthfeel that carries underlying power and tension. Each sip reveals layers of flavor, culminating in a lingering finish that highlights its sophisticated character and showcases the best of Napa Valley's terroir. Composed of Cabernet Sauvignon 78%, Merlot 8%, Cabernet Franc 6%, Petit Verdot 6%, Malbec 2%. Drink: 2025-2055. (Nov 2024)"

97-99 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): "Winemaker Michael Silacci commented that usually the blends are finished in January or February after the vintage. This year, with the 2019s, he was still tweaking the blend, but he did mention that this is "pretty close to the final blend. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Opus One leaps from the glass with notes of Black Forest cake, Morello cherries, mulberries and fresh blackcurrants plus hints of licorice, wilted roses, Sichuan pepper and iron ore. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with juicy black, blue and red fruits, framed by velvety tannins and background freshness, finishing on a compelling earthy/mineral note. Tasted as a barrel sample, this is a truly magnificent Opus One in the making! (Mar 2022)"

98 points/'Top 5 Wines of the Year 2024,' Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux): "(78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 8% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec). The balance of the 2019 vintage in Napa is a pleasure to taste, and this is a brilliant Opus One, showing nuance, depth and concentration, and a ton of rich dark fruits. There is so much to love here, it ebbs and flows through the palate, has some of the character of the early years, those 1979s and 1980s that are still tasting incredible, and the utterly brilliant 1987. Raspberry, blueberry, damson, cassis, there are crunchy fruits and sweet fruits at the same time, playing off against each other, fine tannins, a full bloom of floral violet and peony aromatics, gentle woodsmoke and white pepper, with tension, depth and poise. 22 day skin contact. A wet winter meant a late bud break, 10-15 days behind average, followed by a hot summer that allowed the vines to catch up, so harvest relatively normal beginning September 10 for one month. Alcohol 13.5%. Drink: 2024-2042. (6/2/22)"

98 points Georgina Hindle (Decanter): "Intensely perfumed on the nose, rose petals, violets, deeply scented and seductive. Rich yet expansive on the palate, very open with dark chocolate, cherries, fragrant blackcurrant - sweet and scented, with satin-like tannins that effortlessly support the flavours. There is real drive and persistency to this, fresh, youthful and alive with a vibrant juiciness that is so appealing. No one element is too dominant, this feels harmonious and balanced with an excellent tangy acidity and long minty, herbal finish with edges of tobacco and dark chocolate. A classic Opus with breadth, finesse and energy. Grapes were harvested 10 days earlier than average, on 10th September with harvest lasting four weeks. 6% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec complete the blend. Ageing 19 months in new French oak. Drinking Window: 2024-2045. (7/5/22)"

98 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Advocate): "Deep purple-black in color, the 2019 Opus One has an incredibly showy nose, with exuberant scents of warm cassis, blackberry preserves, and redcurrant jelly leading to suggestions of candied violets, dark chocolate, and clove oil. The medium-bodied palate shimmers with tension, delivering impactful red and black berry preserves layers, framed by very fine-grained tannins, finishing with epic length and energy. The blend this year is: Cabernet Sauvignon 78%, Merlot 8%, Petit Verdot 6%, Cabernet Franc 6%, and Malbec 2%. It was aged for 19 months in new French oak. Alcohol 13.5%. Drink: 2026-2060. (1/5/23)"

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2019 Opus One is brilliant and certainly a worthy follow-up to the 2018. Pure cassis fruits, notes of violets, rose petals, and lead pencil, medium to full body, nicely integrated background oak, and terrific tannins all define this beauty, and while it has the vintage's up-front charm, it's going to age beautifully for 20+ years as well. The blend is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Drink: 2023-2045. (2/16/23)"

97 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Opus One is a dense, beautifully layered wine, but it is also quite restrained. That should serve it well in time. Tasted next to the 2018, the 2019 possesses a bit more textural nuance and body, yet it has all the classicism that is such an Opus One signature. Bright floral accents linger on the sublime finish. Drink: 2029-2049. (Jan 2022)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "Elegantly styled, despite some serious heft, this offers a mix of alluring mulberry, griotte and cassis notes bearing a gently mulled edge, while flashes of apple wood, sweet bay leaf and red tea flicker along the edges. Very refined in feel, with seamless structure extending the finish so the fruit can linger. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Drink now through 2038. (11/15/22)"
