96 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "The Oddero 2019 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Mondoca has a savory note of tobacco that frames dark cherry fruit and blackcurrant. There is a hint of Darjeeling tea or fragrant rose with mildly toasted spice. This wine definitely offers ample power with a 15% alcohol content, and it feels quite rich on the palate. The 2021 vintage is superior in my view, but 2019 will appeal to those who like more meat on those Nebbiolo bones. This wine will be released in September 2025. Drink 2026-2048 (Jun 2025)"
96 points Falstaff Guide: "Clear ruby colour with a pronounced garnet hue. Aromas of blood orange and black tea, then notes of raspberry, salt and some iodine open up. Polished and clear on the palate, with grippy tannins in many layers, a fine texture in between. Shows good tension and has a tobacco flavour on the finish. (Oct 2025)"
95 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Wild rose and dark exotic spice aromas mingle with cocoa and a balsamic whiff of eucalyptus on the compelling Oddero 2019 Vigna Mondoca Riserva. On the full-bodied palate, notes of baking spice, green tea and bitter orange accent a red cherry core. Firm, close-grained tannins provide the framework and grip the finish. Drink 2033–2949. (May 2025)"
94+ points Ian D'Agata Wine Review: "Deep red. Earthy underbrush dominates dark plum and cherry aromas and flavours, along with hints of mint and graphite. The finish is long and mouthcoating. Very inky and very tannic in the mouth, I find this highly structured Barolo’s tannins are very assertive currently, bordering dangerously close to the gritty. That impression may be worsened by the fact the wine is slightly shut down presently and not offering much in the way of fruit. I’m not too sure about where this is headed, but given Oddero’s track record for fine, classic Barolos that develop and blossom slowly, I am inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt. Hence the ‘+’ sign on my score. Drinking window: 2032-2044. (May 2025)"
94 points Michaela Morris (Decanter): "Oddero’s holdings in Bussia are centred around the Mondoca hill within the hamlet of Dardi. The 1.1ha monopoly faces south to southwest on calcareous-rich marl. Its generous warmth is tangible in this rich, robust Barolo. Scents of fennel, macerated cherry and orange peel lead. Salted plum and tar give the ample palate an umami character. It spreads out with an impressive volume of texturing tannins. Succulent acidity kicks in towards the backend and bitter cocoa accents fill out the finish. Drinking window 2026-2038 (Jan 2025)"
