94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts 1er Cru has a lovely, very well-defined bouquet of ebullient red cherries, crushed strawberry and rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and quite savory, with lithe tannins, well-judged acidity and hints of dried blood and spicebox toward the finish, which lingers nicely. Excellent. Thickly textured, perhaps the oak is a little on the brutal side, though this should fade with age as while it hides the fruit it is not drying it. This is currently on the chunky side for sure, with considerable concentration, but less finesse in its youth. I think that will come. (Sep 2021)"

This too is softly spicy with its elegant and distinctly cool array of plum, violet, rose petal and Asian-style tea wisps. There is once again excellent energy and intensity to the almost pungently mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are at once classy yet muscular and on the balanced, focused and saline finish. This too is going to require at least some patience before it will be reasonably approachable. Drink: 2029+. (Jan 2019)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Domaine Noëllat 2017 Petits Monts is a beautiful wine that perfectly captures the utterly refined and elegant side of this superb premier cru. The bouquet is bright and complex, jumping from the glass in a blaze of black raspberries, sweet dark berries, gamebird, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, espresso and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, suave and beautifully transparent, with a sappy core of black fruit, fien-grained tannins and a very, very long, complex and vibrant finish. This was raised in sixty percent new oak this year and is very reminiscent of Véronique Drouhin’s example of Petits Monts, which is the gold standard for this terroir. 2022-2065. (Nov/Dec 2018)"
