94 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (Vinous): "The 2012 Grüner Veltliner Steinterrassen was bottled in May 2023 after almost twelve years in a 6,500-liter barrel. Lovely smokiness gives this 11-year-old wine a most youthful swing on the nose. The palate, likewise, is vivid with freshness and youthful verve. If I did not know better, I would think this is a much more recent wine. The palate is vibrant and sprightly, alive with white pepper that pervades lemony Mirabelle flesh—slender and bright. This is a lovely, youthful marvel. What enduring freshness. What lovely acidity. What a wine. With lightness, freshness, acidity, vivacity and spice, it is a force of life, with a sheer, endless echo of lemon. (Bone-dry) Drink: 2023-2040. (Feb 2024)"
94 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Welcome to the gruner veltliner time machine for a journey back at least 200 years in the winemaking history of the Wachau. Very smoky, with notes of toasted baguette and dried pear, this medium-bodied wine is bone dry, with a serious structure that time has mellowed. Long, austerely stony finish. Matured for 11 years in a 6,000 liter cask of neutral oak. Drink or hold. (9/14/23)"
