95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "From a parcel at the foot of the slope below Chaignots, where the clay soils bring a bit more density, firm tannins and a slightly riper cast to fruit such as cassis and plum, touched with liquorice. Aged in 50% new casks, in spite of the slightly more tannic and hard-edged character, there is still a lot of finesse here and perhaps even more ageability than Les Chaignots. Drinking Window: 2022-2034. (Oct 2020)"

94.5 points CellarTracker.com community score.

91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of cherries, sweet soil tones, dark chocolate and woodsmoke introduce the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Vignes Rondes, a medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping wine that's round and gourmand, with lively acids and melting tannins cloaked in an ample core of fruit. As usual, it's the most giving and immediate of the Mugneret family's premiers crus. (Jan 2021)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vignes Rondes 1er Cru comes from a parcel purchased in 1981 that is handicapped with the 161-49 rootstock, which tends to degenerate, causing the vines to grow like bonsai, smaller and smaller in size. It has a fine mineral-driven bouquet of black plum and raspberry fruit plus hints of black truffle. The medium-bodied palate presents supple tannins, dark cherries and blackberry fruit with touches of sous-bois and gentle grip on the finish. An elegant Nuits Saint-Georges. Drink: 2023-2040. (Dec 2020)"

91-93 point Jasper Morris, MW: "30 hl/ha at 14%. Rich deep saturated purple. Some cherry kernel notes and a hint of volatile here. Ripe plummy mouthful, the acidity is slightly more present, the is fruit on the cusp of red and black, with nicely supportive oaking and good length. Darkly succulent. (Nov 2020)"

92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Mugnerets’ yields in Vignes Rondes were not quite as draconian as in their other parcels in Nuits, but thirty hectoliters per hectare is nothing to write home about. The wine is an even fourteen percent octane and offers up a deep, smoky and meaty nose of cassis, espresso, grilled game, woodsmoke, dark soil tones and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, ripe and beautifully detailed, with a sappy core, fine soil signature, firm tannins and a long, well-balanced and promising finish. This will need plenty of bottle age to blossom, but will be an excellent wine in due course. 2034-2080. (Jan/Feb 2022)"

92 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "Notably ripe yet agreeably fresh and restrained aromas of poached plum, cassis, spice and whiffs of warm earth and the sauvage give way to succulent, round and seductively textured flavors that are shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins on the firm, dusty and youthfully austere finale. I like the balance, and this should age and develop effortlessly over the next 12-plus years. Drink: 2021+. (Jan 2022)"
