94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The tiny yields in Chaignots will make this a very hard wine to find in 2021, but they have also made it one of the most beautiful examples of Nuits St. Georges crafted in the vintage! The bouquet is simply stunning, soaring from the glass in a mix of black cherries, black plums, espresso, pigeon, fresh nutmeg, woodsmoke, a fine base of dark soil and a refined framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and mineral-driven, with a gorgeous core of fruit, buried, fine-grained tannins and super backend lift and grip on the impeccably balanced and complex finish. Just drop dead gorgeous young Nuits! 2033-2085. (Nov/Dec 2022)"

94 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "After drought limited production in 2019 and 2020, 1.27ha of old vines at the top of the slope in Chaignots were damaged by frost, losing 55% of the potential harvest, although rot and mildew were not as endemic here. The fruit that remained produced lovely wine with a deep ruby colour and perfumed aromas with pronounced blackberry fruit and floral notes. There is impressive ripeness on the palate balanced by fresh acidity and a solid core of tannin that carries the wine to a lingering finish. Drinking Window: 2027-2045. (1/11/22)"

94 points La Revue du Vin de France: "A nose of black fruit, stone and fresh mint in Les Chaignots, a round, velvety wine with a juicy, elegant and energetic structure, benefiting from the addition of a little whole clusters and fresh, melted tannins. (2024)"

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Cropped at a derisory 16 hectoliters per hectare, the Mugnerets were obliged to retain some whole bunches with the 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots simply to fill the fermentation vat. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with sweet tannins and an ample core of fruit, it's redolent of wild berries, rose petals and spices. (1/31/23)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru was cropped at 17hL/ha with around 50% new oak. It has an exquisite, floral bouquet with dark berry fruit, peony and wilted roses, gaining intensity in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-chiselled tannins, an almost citric line of acidity with a tensile, linear yet compelling finish. Wonderful. Drink: 2025-2042. (Jan 2023)"

91-94 point Jasper Morris, MW: "Three new barrels in six and a half, from 1.27ha. A fresh vibrant ruby purple. The bouquet is lovely, quite floral for Nuits-St-Georges, with a touch of oak, but also a concentration of fresh but dark fruit, quite a savoury brambly note behind, I could almost imagine some stems. Quite open and certainly attractive. Drink from 2026-2031. (Nov 2022)"
