95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "A remarkable result, with bright red and black berry fruit aromas, accented with notes of flowers and spice. On the palate, the wine shows plenty of grip but also a thoroughly pleasant balance. The Mugneret sisters have a parcel of 1.27ha of old vines in Aux Chaignots, reasonably high on the slope. They explain that in 2020 these vines suffered from the drought conditions and ripening was blocked in August. Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (Nov 2021)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru suffered quite a lot during the summer according to Christine because of the dryness. Nevertheless, it has an exquisite bouquet with beautifully defined, minerally red fruit that seems to blossom in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, an almost citric bead of acidity with a lively and sustained finish. Wonderful. Drink: 2025-2045. (Dec 2021)"

91-94 point Jasper Morris, MW: "Very intense deep purple. The nose is gorgeous in the ripe style of the vintage. Quite high octane (14.2%) which shows on the palate. Some grenadine mixed in with dark fruit. A few tannins, some acidity but this is not together today. There were plenty of grapes but they were small and held too little juice. 23 hl/ha. Hugely intense finish, this could develop either way but I am more optimistic than otherwise. (Nov 2021)"

93+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Tasted in bottle, the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is another success, offering up aromas of cassis and other dark berries mingled with notions of rose petals, spices and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, supple and layered, it's seamless and enveloping, with a bright spine of acidity and a long, saline finish. While it's deceptively open out of the gates, given its concentration and freshness, I suspect it may shut down in the near future. Drink: 2030-2055. (Jan 2023)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Chaignots from Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg is excellent. The wine delivers a refined and sappy aromatic constellation of black cherries, black plums, dark chocolate, a beautiful base of soil tones, gamebird, woodsmoke, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full and sappy at the core, with fine soil undertow and grip, fine-grained tannins and lovely balance on the long, focused and complex finish. This came in at 14.2 percent octane in this vintage, but is fresh, vibrant and utterly refined in personality. 2032-2080. (NovDec 2021)"

93 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Round mouth, very fleshy and rather tight in Les Chaignots, with a slightly exuberant character: a touch of dryness on the finish in this wine in which power dominates and alcohol is perceptible. (2023)"
