94 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "The Mugnerets have a single 1.27ha old-vine parcel of this underrated premier cru, close to Vosne-Romanée. Showing a touch of good reduction, this is floral, subtle and complex, with effortless concentration, stylish, scented wood and filigree tannins. Drinking Window: 2023-2030. (Nov 2018)"

93+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Chaignots is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of red berries, cassis, exotic spices, dark chocolate and rich soil tones, framed by a deft touch of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and youthfully structured, its concentrated core of fruit framed by an ample chassis of powdery tannin and lively acids. This is one 2017 that will demand a little patience, but its potential is excellent. Drink: 2027-2055. (Jan 2020)"

93+ points Fine Wine Review: "The Chaignots has stoniness and spice in the nose. The mouth is very precise and fresh with dark berries, medium weight, lightness on the tongue, and ripe tannins. (3/29/20)"

93 point Jasper Morris, MW: "Medium depth of colour. Not sure where the nose has got to at the moment. Darker fruit here, a few black cherries and blackberry notes along with a more dominant ripe raspberry feel. Medium bodied but with plenty of fruit to fill the mouth and good length. (Nov 2019)"

92.5 points CellarTracker.com community score.

92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2017 Chaignots was raised in fifty percent new wood this year, which I think is up slightly from previous vintages. The wine was showing very nicely in November, with a reserved personality tied to very pretty sappiness to its fruit component. The bouquet is quite black fruity this year, offering up sweet dark berries, black cherries, gamebird chalky soil tones, violets, bitter chocolate and a vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully structured, with a fine core, excellent soil signature, suave, fine-grained tannins and excellent length and grip on the nascently complex and vibrant finish. This is really, really good. 2025-2065. (Nov/Dec 2018)"
