96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Aromas of rich red berries, cherries, raw cocoa, peonies, spices and orange rind introduce the 2019 Echezeaux Grand Cru, a full-bodied, broad and velvety wine that's charming and enveloping, with terrific depth at the core, lively acids and a long, penetrating finish. Its alliance of drama with precision makes this a very special wine from the Mugneret family. Drink: 2025-2065. (1/20/22)"
96 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The Mugneret-Gibourg holdings in Echézeaux are in two, roughly equal-sized parcels, both with old vines; one in Rouges du Bas on the slope and the other in Quartier de Nuits. The blend of the two sites has resulted in an exquisite wine, with aromas of scented damson plums and spice. There is a lovely richness and depth on the palate, with tannins so fine-grained that the texture is truly seamless. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (10/24/20)"
95 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2019 Echézeaux is the most aromatically flamboyant example I have ever tasted from Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg, as this wine truly smells like a young vintage of Henri Jayer’s bottling! The beautifully expressive bouquet soars from the glass in a mix of black plums, sweet dark berries, smoked meats, dark soil tones, bitter chocolate, bonfire, Vosne spices and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off stunning depth in the mid-palate, with great mineral drive and grip, ripe, beautifully integrated tannins and a long, complex and chewy finish. This will need plenty of cellaring time to fully blossom, but it is going to be a stunning wine once it softens up! 2037-2100. (Jan/Feb 2022)"
95 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Perhaps the deepest purple in the flight. The fruit is very backward, and when it does start to emerge shows a considerable ripeness. Then along come the mentholated cherries and some wood tannins. At first this seems monolithic as a wine style, or is it just a question of extreme youth? I think it’s the latter now as it builds with time in the glass. (Sep 2023)"
93-94 points/'Very Fine+,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Echezeaux is a delightful beauty made from the two climats Rouges du Bas (a plot just above Echezeaux du Dessus) and Les Quartiers de Nuits. The nose offers a charming, sensual, floral expression; 20%-25% whole clusters have been used to lighten this rather rich, hot terroir. A bit on the hot side like most 2019s, but still beautifully perfumed with lavender and violets. Gorgeous, with energetic mid-palate fruit. Drink from 2034. (2/9/21)"
93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(the blend has now changed from 50/50 to two-thirds/one-third in the climats of Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits; the yields were only 20 hl/ha in 2019 and it was vinified with 15% whole clusters). A more restrained if somewhat riper nose is comprised by notes of dark berry fruit liqueur and a wonderful range of spice and floral elements, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. Here too the medium weight plus flavors possess a beguiling mouthfeel thanks to the generous sap that helps to buffer the firm tannins shaping the lengthy and mildly warm finale. This moderately austere effort should amply reward extended cellaring. Drink: 2034+. (Jan 2022)"
