94-97 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "From Les Rouges du Bas (70+ year old vines) and Quartiers de Nuits (50 year old). Picked on the same day and co-fermented, 15% whole bunch which started in 2016 for quantity reasons and has been continued. Fine black fresh colour, some oak on the nose, this sample from a new cask. Re-tasted as a blend. More substance, sweet dark cherry and some ripe raspberry, long and succulent. (Nov 2019)"

94-96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2018 Echezeaux Grand Cru soars from the glass with a pretty bouquet of cherries, raspberries, smoked duck, cinnamon and rose petals that's framed by a deft touch of new oak and also subtly inflected by the 15% whole clusters that this cuvée saw this year. On the palate, it's full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with an expansive attack, excellent depth at the core and a long, nicely defined finish. (1/9/20)"

95 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits supply the grape for this co-fermented Echézeaux blend from a total of 0.75ha. Fermented with 20% whole bunches and aged in 60% new wood, it has delightful old-vine concentration, layers of tobacco spice, forest floor and red berry fruit, sculpted tannins and a fresh, refined finish. Drinking Window: 2024-2032. (10/20/19)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2018 Echézeaux from Domaine Mugneret-Gibourg included fully fifty percent whole clusters in this vintage, but they are hard to spot amongst all of the other aromatic fireworks going off in the glass! The bouquet is ripe, vibrant and sexy, offering up scents of black raspberries, black cherries, roasted pigeon, a very complex base of soil tones, chocolate, violets, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and beautifully sappy at the core, with lovely soil signature, ripe, suave tannins and great length and grip on the still quite primary, but, oh, so promising finish. This will be stunning wine when it is ready to drink! 2033-2085. (Nov/Dec 2019)"

94+ points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a tightly wound, intense bouquet of black fruit, briar, crushed limestone and a brushing of chalk dust. The palate is medium-bodied with hints of licorice and menthol on the entry. Quite an exotic Echézeaux, more so than the 2019, it has great breadth and grip toward the finish. This will require several years in bottle. Drink: 2025-2050. (Dec 2020)"

93-94 points/'Very Fine,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Echezeaux is a delightful beauty – made from the two climats Rouges du Bas (a plot just above Echezeaux du Dessus) and Les Quartiers de Nuits. The nose is offering a fine floral expression – 20% whole clusters were used in this cuvée, and that really provides a lift. The nose is perfumed with notes of lavender and violets which spice the red and dark fruit. There is a lovely note of dark roses. A warm, generous and charming Echezeaux. Drink from 2034. (11/8/19)"
