96 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Dark red cherry, plum, spices, menthol and licorice all flesh out in the 2011 Echézeaux, a powerful, incredibly inviting Burgundy loaded with class and personality. Layers of dark, deeply spiced fruit blossom in the glass as the 2011 shows off its pure volume. The Echézeaux boasts fabulous extract and serious concentration. This is a marvelous Burgundy built for the cellar. Today, the 2011 is every bit as magnificent as it was from barrel. Drink: 2021-2041. (Mar 2014)"

92-95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Echézeaux, made up of about equal parts from the Rouges du Bas and Quartier des Nuits climats, is dense and sensual with dark fruit and subtle spices. The wine has richness but also laciness. (Issue 139; 2013)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The only wine that was a bit cranky at the time of my visit to the Mugnerets’ cellars was the 2011 Echézeaux, which was in a bit of an adolescent funk and not happy being disturbed. However, its eventual excellence is easy to read, as the wine offers up an aromatic blend of dark berries, black cherries, woodsmoke, cool soil tones, gamebirds, espresso and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and quite reserved, with a superb core, ripe and perfectly integrated tannins and fine grip and focus on the long and transparent finish. This will be lovely, but give it nine or ten years of bottle age. 2022-2060. (Nov/Dec 2012)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from the climats of Les Rouges du Bas and Les Quartiers de Nuits; aged in 80% new oak). A deftly wooded nose surrounds the ripe aromas of cassis, natural spice, warm earth and violets. There is an opulent mouth feel to the pure and palate coating flavors that brim with an impressive reserve of dry extract before terminating in a long and saline-infused finish. This is robust but not rustic or austere and should reward longer-term cellaring. Drink: 2023+. (Jan 2014)"

93 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "The 2011 Echezeaux Grand Cru has a fragrant bouquet, again quite autumnal and leafy, with lovely, ripe black fruit – blackberry, bilberry intermingling with freshly tilled soil. The palate is medium-bodied with a saline entry. There is a palpable marine influence with hints of iodine and seaweed embroidered into the structured finish. This should age extremely well over two decades. Drink 2015-2035. (Feb 2014)"
