95-97 points Jasper Morris, MW: "15% of whole cluster, which shows to a surprising degree on the nose. The colour is typically intense purple. The bouquet is still very heady, but the aromatics have an additional florality and the fruit stretches further on the palate. Still quite a lush texture, black fruit slightly to the fore. The 2020 Echezeaux has a really fine long finish with some juicy red fruit. 13.7% alcohol. (Nov 2021)"

96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): The Mugnerets’ 2020 Echézeaux is a glorious example of the vintage. The nose soars from the glass in a complex and exuberant blend of black plums, sweet dark berries, duck, black tea, a gorgeously complex base of soil tones, espresso, woodsmoke, spicy oak and a touch of balsam bough in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy at the core, with great backend mineral drive, ripe, seamless tannins, bright acids and laser-like focus on the very, very long, complex and seamless finish. A great young wine. 2035-2100. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

94-96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Echezeaux Grand Cru is perfumed and dramatic, soaring from the glass with scents of sweet red berries, cassis, exotic spices, rose petals, orange rind and smoke. Full-bodied, broad and layered, it's textural and enveloping, with a lavish core of fruit, striking depth at the core and a long, resonant finish. Framed by powdery tannins and succulent acids, it will offer a wide drinking window. (1/20/22)"

95 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "This bottling is consistently among my favorite Echézeaux. It is blended from grapes grown in Les Quartier de Nuits and Rouges du Bas that are destemmed and given a cold soak before a gentle fermentation and 18 months ageing in cask. The result has an incredibly expressive raspberry and cassis fruit with a pronounced floral note, and hints of spice, smoke and leather. The texture is lovely and dense, and the wine lingers enticingly on the finish. Superb. This wine is both approachable early and eminently ageworthy. Drinking Window: 2027-2050. (1/3/22)"

95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "The Mugnerets have two parcels here: one in the Quartier de Nuits that is flat and hosts old vines and another in Rouges du Bas. This saw a small, 15% infusion of whole clusters, which was not used on any other cuvée in 2020. The sisters have been adding them here only since 2016 because their tank for this cuvée is just too big for the smaller harvests they've been having. This is vigorously ripe and even shows some dried fruits. The acidity is subtle, but the tannins have some nice kick. This needs some time to settle down. 2025-40. (2022)"

94-95 points Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Echézeaux is a delightful beauty made from the two climats Rouges du Bas (a plot just above Echézeaux du Dessus vinified as whole clusters) and Les Quartiers de Nuits (fully destemmed). The nose offers a charming, sensual, floral expression – very lively and intense. I love the acidity; this is a delightfully hedonistic beauty. Definitely a vin d’émotion. Drink from 2034. (1/17/22)"

93-95 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Echézeaux Grand Cru is the only cuvée with whole bunch, around 25% this year. It comes from two parcels that are always picked on the same day and matured in 60% new oak with a very light toasting. Brambly red fruit, wild hedgerow and briary on the nose that (again) blossoms with aeration whilst maintaining outstanding focus. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, taut and fresh with a bit of sinew on the finish, a bit of grip. So give this 5-8 years in bottle. Drink by 2050. (Dec 2021)"
