95-98 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Old vines from 1954 have yielded 39 hl/ha giving 14.4% alcohol. Always consistent production I this vineyard, I am told. Noble imperial purple colour, with a superb bouquet also displaying this aspect of nobility. The fruit absolutely fills the mouth, a little bit of blood orange alongside rich ripe cherries, this Clos Vougeot can carry the alcohol without a problem. One or two chocolate notes, but they add complexity to what is predominantly red fruit. Very successful in 2019. (Nov 2020)"

97 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "The grapes come from an old vine parcel purchased by Dr. Mugneret in 1953, just underneath the château. There is a bit of whole cluster in the fermentation and 70% new casks. The low-yielding vines were picked very ripe to make a super-concentrated and magnificently dense wine, with abundant fruit and lots of structure. This was the star of the vintage for me from Mugneret-Gibourg. It will repay a bit of ageing and should continue to improve for decades. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (Oct 2020)"

96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The slightly better yields in the Mugnerets’ Clos Vougeot in 2019 have produced a beautiful wine, with beautiful aromatic and flavor complexity, a well-integrated structural chassis and excellent potential for the long haul. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a fine, black fruity blend of black plums, black cherries, cassis, roasted pigeon, a complex base of soil tones, espresso and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very precise in profile, with a superb core of fruit, excellent backend mineral drive, ripe, buried tannins and lovely length and grip on the poised and well balanced finish. Fine, fine juice that comes in at 14.4 percent in this vintage, but is perfectly balanced at this octane. Like all of the Mugneret grand crus in 2019, this wine will need plenty of bottle age before it blossoms, but its future is going to be excellent. 2035-2100. (Jan/Feb 2022)"

94-96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is tight on the nose but only needs modest aeration to reveal intense blackberry and bilberry fruit, superb mineralité, and faint hints of licorice patiently waiting in the wings. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, crisp acidity and a persistent saline finish. Excellent. Drink: 2025-2055. (Dec 2020)"

93-95 points/'Very Fine+,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Clos Vougeot is showing generous effortlessness and perfume; many of the 2019 Vougeots have these characteristics, along with a certain relaxed joie de vivre. Red and dark berries show on the nose, along with dark red roses and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, rich, yes – warm, perhaps – but with a very refined and sensual note. A vin d’emotion. Drink from 2036. (2/9/21)"

94 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a parcel situated by the Château at the top of the slope designated as Montiotes Hautes; yields of 38 hl/ha in 2019). Here too discreet wood sets off earthier and less spicy aromas of various dark berries along with a mentholated top note. The rich and caressing yet quite powerful and muscular big-bodied flavors possess a velvety mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the austere and mildly warm finale. This wine always ages extremely well and 2019 should continue that excellent track record. Drink: 2036+. (Jan 2022)"
