92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Bright ruby-red. Sappy black cherry and a meaty nuance on the reticent nose. Fat and sweet (this still has 2.5 grams of r.s., according to Choppin de Janvry) but less suave and approachable than the Bressandes, and holding more gas today. This is ultimately more powerful and more tannic, and finishes with a brooding medicinal austerity today. But this chewy, extremely primary wine is also potentially outstanding. (Mar/Apr 2007)"
92 points (16/20) La Revue du Vin de France (Jan 2008).
90-91 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate): "From a relatively old average age of vines immediately behind the winery, Choppin’s 2005 Beaune Teuorns smells of blackberry, cassis, roasted meats, and tobacco. Concentrated and firm on the palate, it lacks early textural allure, and its dark flavor hues represent another instance of 2005 being serious at the expense of charm, but this tightly-stitched Pinot lays down impressively long traces of black fruits, meat, herbal concentrates and chalk and has a decade or more of potential.
