'Sweet Spot/Outstanding'/93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a miniscule .064 ha parcel of 25+ year old vines; Blanchot-Dessus abuts Montrachet on its southern end). A different aromatic profile is present here with its smoky and spicy array of floral, resin and various white orchard fruit scents. On the palate it's immediately clear that this is a big wine with impressive mid-palate concentration and overt power that continues onto the mouthcoating, gorgeously long and beautifully balanced finish that is very solidly structured. This serious and tautly muscular effort is clearly built-to-age over the longer-term yet it's not so backward that it couldn't be approached after 5 to 7 years of cellaring. Drink: 2033+. (Jun 2023)"
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "Despite the low volumes, and some missing cuvées, the wines here are simply excellent in 2021 – in both colours – some are particularly special! (Dec 2022)"
This minuscule vineyard (0.064 hectare) was formerly known as "Montrachet’s Feet," as it links the Criots-Montrachet and Montrachet grands crus, explaining its strong connection to the Montrachet vineyard before the grand cru's current borders were finalized in 1921.
