94 points The Tasting Panel: "Coarsely filtered and cloudy in appearance, the sediment in this saké actually enhances its aromatics. Notes of lemon ice, honeysuckle, and coconut lead to even more tropical notes on the palate: Lychee, gardenia, and ripe pineapple are opulent in a delicate body. ABV is 16%. (Sep 2019)"

Producer notes: "Silky layers of flavors including custard, ginger, anise, coconut, pear and honey. Chill and serve with spicy foods, chocolate and rich barbecue or simply on its own as a organically decadent treat. SMV: -12. Alcohol: 16%. Rice polished to 60%. Acidity: 1.7."

WHWC Staff Notes: "'Does sake count as a grain?' I wanted to ask my doctor at a recent checkup -- even though I already knew the answer. 'You can take the pills, or eat more fish,' the doctor said, regarding my daily dose of Omega-3's. I opted to increase my sushi intake from the Nikko counter at a nearby grocery store instead. Leaving for the weekend, takeout sushi in tow, I stopped by the fridge eyeing the sake. I tend to like cloudy (nigori) style sake, so I picked up two different half-bottles before calling it a night. The Momokawa Organic Nigori sake was the winner of the night. The subtle aromas of tree bark and fresh unscented flowers were the perfect foil to the delicate nuances of the sushi. Conversely, what I also loved about it was how it stood up to my wasabi-laden soy sauce and the strength of the pickled ginger. Delicious organic sake, from Oregon no less -- this is one you should definitely try with food or without. It is as clean and delicious as it gets." -Serena Alvarez, 2/21/14
