93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2016 Murgers chez Méo is going to be excellent as well, but it is a bit behind in its evolution right now and was still in the process of absorbing its new oak at the time of my visit. But, the depth of fruit here is exemplary and this was only a momentary phase. The bouquet is lovely and quite precise, delivering a fine blend of black cherries, black plums, dark chocolate, a complex base of soil, pigeon and spicy oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full and tangy, with a lovely core, fine transparency, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, energetic and very promising finish. 2026-2065. (Nov/Dec 2017)"

91-93 points Stephen Tanzer (Vinous): "Good dark red. Very ripe but somewhat subdued aromas and flavors of black cherry, licorice and sweet oak. Creamy-sweet and plush in the mouth, with harmonious acidity giving shape to this easygoing, rather generous wine. Finishes with a ripe dusting of tannins and a piquant suggestion of blood orange. Méo described this wine as "typical 2016 for us: creamy, soft and elegant but with depth and texture." This wine should offer early pleasure but it also has the stuffing and balance for mid-term aging. (Jan 2018)"

90-93 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .73 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines). A spicy and moderately earthy mix is composed by notes of red and dark cherry along with a whiff of oak. There is outstanding richness to the delicious, velvety and impressively complex middle weight plus flavors that are blessed with excellent mid-palate density, all wrapped in a focused, powerful and beautifully persistent finish. This is a pretty blend of Vosne-style spice together with Nuits-style muscle and punch. Drink: 2024+. (Jan 2018)"
