96 points Kerin O'Keefe: "Aromas of menthol, violet, pipe tobacco and dark-skinned berry form the enticing nose on the compelling 2021 Massolino Parussi. Hailing form the estate’s Castiglione Falletto, the bold, youthfully austere palate shows the intensity of Parussi and the vintage, delivering succulent black cherry, raspberry, licorice and crushed mint framed in firm, close-grained tannins. Drink 2033–2043. Abv: 14.5%. (Jan 2025)"
96 points Jacobo Garcia-Andrade Llamas (JamesSuckling.com): "Luminous and expressive, with tar, dried rose petals and crushed cranberries. The palate is medium-bodied with delicate, delineated fruit. It’s juicy and incisive, with precise, polished tannins and a delicate finish. Very detailed and nuanced, it’s on the ethereal end of the spectrum. Drink or hold. (1/8/25)"
95 points Michaela Morris (Decanter): "Despite inextricable ties to Serralunga d’Alba since 1896, the Massolino family ventured outside the village in 2006 with the purchase of almost 2ha in Castiglione Falletto’s Parussi MGA. Younger soils with a higher percentage of clay yield more vigorous vines, and that surge of vigour is echoed in the 2021. Scents of wild strawberry and cherry are punctuated by tobacco and star anise. On the palate, a glossy core of pomegranate is swathed in chewy tannins – all with the estate’s signature elegance. Pulverised stone and bitter herbs lend further nuance. Drinking window 2027-2040 (Jan 2025)"
95 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "Taking on a bit more pigment in the glass, the 2021 Barolo Parussi is a jeweled red color and starts to show a bit more depth while also offering a floral nose with notes of fresh lavender, hints of leather, ripe raspberries, and sweet herbs. The palate is rounded and medium-bodied, with a saturating feel, refined tannins that fill out the palate, even acidity, and a balanced finish. It’s a floral and seductive wine that offers some immediacy but will only improve over the coming 12-15 years. Drink 2025-2040 (May 2025)"
94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Once again, the 2021 Barolo Parussi is super-impressive. It's such a complete wine, one that marries elegance with understated texture and persistence. Candied red fruit, spice and floral accents show a touch of raciness that builds over time. Parussi is the last vineyard Massolino harvests, a choice that seems especially well suited to this wine. Expansive and layered, with captivating beauty, the Parussi is positively stellar. Drink: 2026-2041. (Jan 2025)
94 points Ian D'Agata Wine Review: "Bright deep red. Classically austere Barolo that expresses tightly coiled aromas and flavours of mellow chocolate, fresh soil tones, herbs, and some red cherry. Could use a bit more fruit to go along with its very savoury elements on the long, fresh close, but this boasts plenty of underlying depth and sneaky concentration. Though this is usually the last cru harvested at Massolino, I find the wine never shows signs of being overripe or raisined. Very nice. Drinking window: 2030-2040. (May 2025)"
