91-94 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Perfumed, essence-of-cabernet aromas of cassis, griotte cherry, violet and spicy oak. Lush, thick and very dense, with sappy, very intense flavors of cassis, bitter chocolate and licorice. Wonderfully concentrated and vibrant?a comment on the strong potential in the Margaux region in this vintage. Powerful backbone hiding under the flesh. Finishes with sappy sweetness and terrific grip. Thoroughly ripe tannins explode to the far corners of the palate. (May/Jun 2000)"

91 points Robert Parker: "This exceptional wine exhibits notes of violets, charcoal, vanilla, and pure creme de cassis. A dense ruby purple color is followed by a medium to full-bodied, textured beauty with extraordinary elegance and savory sweetness. The finish lasts over 30 seconds. This brilliant debut wine from a heretofore unknown vineyard merits serious attention. (4/29/02)"

91 points Jane Anson (Decanter): "So, how has this firebomb held up? Bearing in mind that I tried the Chateau Margaux 1999 a few months ago and it was still decidedly young, this is definitely displaying tertiary aromatics. The intensity that comes from cropping the fruit at 20hl/h is still clear, and overall this is dense, rich with plenty of life ahead. A touch dry on the finish, this majors on exotic damson and fig fruit and frankly has lashings of enjoyment to offer. (Jul 2016)"

90 points Wine Spectator: "[$224 list] Big and juicy for the vintage. Very pretty berry, black licorice and smoke. Full-bodied, with a solid core of fruit and ultrafine tannins. Very long and silky. Serious garage wine from Margaux. Best after 2004. 250 cases made. (3/31/02)"
