99 points Robert Parker: "An absolutely magnificent wine is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 1, which was accessed from sources such as the William Hill Estate, Stagecoach Vineyard, and Domaine Chandon. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 22 months in new French oak and finished at 15.4% natural alcohol. This is a seamless, nearly perfect Cabernet Sauvignon with extraordinary opulence and a massive, full-bodied mouthfeel, although still relatively light on its feet for such richness and extract. The wine, which is one of the few in the vertical that was 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, shows incredibly pure crème de cassis fruit along with forest floor, tobacco leaf, licorice and graphite. It is truly profound Cabernet Sauvignon with at least another 25 years of aging potential. Drink: 2016-2041. (10/28/16)"

95 points Wine Spectator: "This is a beauty, with a lovely display of red, blue and black fruit, showing cherry, plum and blueberry notes mixed with sassafras, sage and sweet spice. There’s ample grip, but it’s well-embedded, with acidity to match the tannins. Everything melds slowly on the finish and this seems destined for a long life. A big step up. -- Non-blind Louis M. Martini vertical (July 2020). Drink now through 2037. 533 cases made. (10/22/20)"

Producer notes: "The concept of Lot wines at Louis M. Martini dates back to 1968 when Louis P. Martini, Michael’s father, first made luxury Cabernet Sauvignons from selected barrels which he named by lot numbers. At that time, Louis P. Martini was making Cabernets in the league with other Napa Valley greats, George De Latour, Heitz Martha’s Vineyard and Robert Mondavi. Sourcing of his fruit likely included Monte Rosso grapes and other vineyards from his friends in the Napa Valley. The Martini lot wines produced in the late 60s and early 70s were considered among the most collectible of Martini’s wines. Once again, today, Michael Martini is able to enjoy access to premium Napa Valley vineyards and blend Cabernet Sauvignons from the best mountain fruit AVAs, just like his father did. Our new Lot 1 Cabernet Sauvignon is a shining example."
