94 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Flavors of stone and cherry in La Riotte, a sapid, fresh wine, superb in its deliciousness and fullness. (2022)"

92-94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru La Riotte opens in the glass with notes of cherries, sweet red berries, raw cocoa, spices and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and sapid, with fine depth at the core and an immensely charming, open profile, it will offer a broad drinking window. Lignier observes that this site never suffers from hydric stress and came in at the highest alcohol level this year—that's to say, in the low 14s. (1/14/21)"

93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Above the Clos Solon, near the village, lies this small plot of old vines that has produced the ripest fruit of the entire estate in 2019 (picked at 14.7% potential alcohol). Still slightly reduced, there is a dark, spicy side to the fruit, a lively tension and slightly tough tannins on the palate that last through the lingering finish. Drinking Window: 2024-2039. (10/24/20)"

90-92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Mid red, quite a reserved nose at first, but generous red fruit in the mouth which lasts every well - but there is a touch of liquorice and you can tell the grapes are ripe. (Nov 2020)"

90-92 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru has a tender bouquet with red berry fruit, crushed limestone and rose petal aromas, more Chambolle-like than Morey. The palate is quite rich and generous, nicely structured, sweet towards the finish that manages to disguise the 14.7° alcohol. If you desire one of Domaine Hubert Lignier’s more heady 2019s then this is the place to come. Drink: 2023-2038. (Dec 2020)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(In the centre of Morey. Never seems to suffer from the drought here as there are some sources. Slightly higher alcohols as it matures quickly.) A fine nose, deep but narrow. Fresh attack to this flavour – like the Baudes but with redder fruit and a little more tannin almost a mocha accent to the fruit here. Finishing with a little extra tannin. Delicious wine… (1/18/21)"
