93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The Ligniers’ parcel of vines in Combottes are all over fifty years of age as well these days and this wine is stellar in 2011. The deep and utterly refined nose soars from the glass in a classic mélange of red and black cherries, a touch of game, mustard seed, a very complex base of soil, dark chocolate and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with excellent focus and transparency, tangy acids and a very long, beautifully-balanced and suavely tannic finish. A beautiful wine in the making. 2020-2050. (May/Jun 2013)"
92 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Medium red. Discreet, pure nose offers redcurrant, crushed stone and a high-pitched floral note. Juicy, pure, penetrating and deep, offering good thickness for the year without any impression of weightiness. At once tighter and more perfumed in the mid-palate than the Perrieres. The wine's dark fruit flavors are complicated by a whiff of leather. Serious, ripe tannins saturate the mouth and front teeth. Excellent cut and energy here, but this beauty will need a good six to eight years in the cellar. (Mar/Apr 2014)"
