95-97 points Joaquín Hidalgo (Vinous): "The 2021 Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru has a very focused, mineral-rich bouquet with intense red fruit laced with rose petal, blood oranges and graphite (though this ebbs with aeration). The palate is medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannins, impressive density, very minerally with superb transparency towards the linear finish. Wonderful. Drink 2026-2050. (Jan 2023)"

96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "As many readers will already know, there are several different lieux à dits that make up Clos de la Roche. The Lignier family has parcels in two of these, les Monts Luisants and les Fremiers, and their regular bottling is made from a blend of these two sections of the vineyard. It is simply superb in 2021, delivering a complex and very refined bouquet of red and black cherries, plum, woodsmoke, venison, raw cocoa, mustard seed, vanillin oak and a hint of hazelnut in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and impeccably balanced, with a great core of fruit, beautiful transparency, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, focused and beautifully refined finish. Great juice. 2037-2100. (Nov/Dec 2022)"

96 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "There is only half the usual harvest in 2021, making seven rather than 14 barrels. The new oak is a bit marked now with toast, chocolate and coffee grind nuances. Give the pure, blackberry and black currant fruits time to absorb it all. There's no rush anyway given the taut tannins and electric acidity. As this settles down, it will wow for a decade or two. (2023)"

94 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Although the vines of Clos de la Roche suffered from the frost, the results were particularly delicious, with bright red and black fruit and notes of lavender and spice. The wine shows admirable energy and an almost saline minerality on the palate. There is tension and freshness, pleasantly ripe fruit, and rewarding density. The complex interplay of flavours on the palate is superb. Wait five years before opening this; it should last another twenty beyond that. Drinking Window: 2027-2050. (Nov 2022)"

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Bright red, lightly volatile nose. A touch of menthol and a bit of oak. Some tannins at the back, medium bodied, one of the cuvées which is not quite together, slightly fluid fruit. Pretty and slightly savoury red fruit turns up at the back. Half a crop. Drink from 2029-2036. (Nov 2022)"
