96 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "This is an epic Clos St. Denis, and one of the best wines in the cellar from 2017. The grapes come from the center of the original Clos in a parcel that was planted in 1962. 2017 saw about half of the fruit fermented as whole clusters before aging in 50% new casks for 18 months. The result was a potently ripe plum and blackberry fruit with just an edge of camphor and bramble along with the suggestion of violets. The texture is buttressed by silky tannins and enough extract to ensure an impressively lingering finish. Drinking Window: 2023-2040. (1/4/18)"
95 points Tim Atkin, MW: "Fresher, livelier and better balanced than his Clos de la Roche bottling in 2017, Ben Leroux's Clos St-Denis has a delightfully ethereal quality to it. The 30% new wood is still quite assertive, but give this time to integrate in bottle and it will turn into a scented, sappy delight with a core of spicy raspberry and pomegranate fruit. 2024-2030. (10/24/18)"
