96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "With an intense saline power that takes us straight to the bedrock, Le Clavoillon offers a mouth-filling fruitiness with just the right amount of weight. (2024)"

95 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2024).

94 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "[$380 list] A sophisticated white hallmarked by lemon, butterscotch, peach, hazelnut and chalky dust aromas and flavors. Supple, yet not creamy, with a stony edge working the long, spice-tinged aftertaste. Drink now through 2032. (1/17/24)"

92-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(Leflaive is the largest holder of Clavoillon with a whopping 4.8 ha holding that averages 40+ years of age). Here the reduction is sufficient to overshadow the fruit. There is even better volume to the sleek and delicious middleweight flavors that are less mineral-driven but more powerful and slightly more persistent and bone-dry finish that is also exceptionally well-balanced. This is excellent and I would go so far as to observe that it's the best vintage for the Clavoillon in a long time. It is typically considered to be less interesting than the other 1ers (and not without reason) in the Leflaive portfolio and while it doesn't surpass them in 2021, it is most impressive nonetheless. Drink: 2029+. (Jun 2023)"

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Rather a severe nose, a form of reduction, possibly allied to sulphur. This soon cleans up. I asked for a second pour of this wine, and it was totally clean. This is more reserved with a depth of fruit that impresses, with also good variation, complexity, all white fruit, doesn’t have any specific citrus mote, A little barrel toast complements rather than interferes. Impressive length. (Apr 2023)"

92+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon is youthfully reserved, unwinding in the glass with aromas of pear and green apple mingled with toasted nuts, freshly baked bread and iodine. Medium-bodied, tangy and electric, with racy acids and a searingly saline finish, it will age with grace. Drink: 2027-2040. (1/18/24)"

92 points/'Fine,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Puligny Clavoillon is a beautiful wine, vivid and fresh, with an effortless presentation of the fruit. The 20% new oak is well balanced by the wine’s gorgeous intensity and density. So refined for a village, there are only 45 barrels, versus 100 normally. Drink from 2033. (3/30/23)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(This vineyard was planted to red in the early 1900s. Today Leflaive has a virtual monopoly of this large climat, as such it serves as their ‘laboratory’ a place where they try different treatment regimes, different pruning etcetera.? It’s the biggest parcel of the domaine at 4.8 ha. The Chavy family have about 1 ha and together that’s most of the vineyard… Bottling will be in 3-4 weeks.) A deeper nose – edged with a nutty reduction. The intensity is higher here – the minerality too. More muscle but sleek and ultra-long finishing. A beauty! (9/7/23)"
