98 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2024).
95-98 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from 3 different parcels, two on the Chassagne side and the third in the Puligny sector that is near the border dividing the two communes). Once again a subtle but not invisible application of wood frames cool and ripe aromas of green apple, acacia blossom, petrol and airy zest-tinged nuances. Interestingly, the middleweight flavors aren't quite as dense as those of the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet yet the intensity is even higher, indeed it's almost painful, while flashing impressive power on the gorgeously complex, sneaky long and equally well-balanced finale. This is also stunning but patience required. Drink: 2036+. (Jun 2023)"
95-97 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Clear pale yellow. As always, the Bâtard comes over in much chunkier style after the cashmere texture of Bienvenues. This is hewn out of the rock rather than soft wool. The 2021 Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet delivers a block of power which will take much longer to come round, while the finish builds to an extraordinary degree. (Apr 2023)"
96 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "[$1,863 list] Round and vibrant, this white leans into the citrusy spectrum of flavors, offering lemon, orange peel and yuzu notes accented by apple and stone. Linear and intense on the superlong finish, where the flavors expand and linger. Best from 2025 through 2035. 500 cases made, 100 cases imported. (1/3/24)"
96 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru actually has a more delicate and refined bouquet compared to the Bienvenue. It needs time to open - stunning delineation. The palate is very well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good weight and density. I do wonder if the Bienvenue plans to give it a run for its money in this vintage? Why not? Drink: 2026-2050. (Jan 2024)"
95 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2021 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru if the most sensual wine in the range, bursting with aromas of confit citrus, pear and white flowers mingled with notions of praline and freshly baked bread. Full-bodied, satiny and layered, it's the most unctuous, enveloping and rich of Leflaive's whites this year, concluding with a long, expansive finish. Drink 2027-2045. (1/18/24)"
95 points/'Very Fine+,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Batard-Montrachet is reduced and rather dense, but also quite delicate. It is an intense wine, and elegantly put together by Pierre Vincent and his team. Before tasting the Chevalier-Montrachet, it is very impressive. However, the Chevalier is just better on every level. Still, a lovely Batard. Drink from 2042. (3/30/23)"
Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "A toasty reduction here that’s so very impressively inviting – yellow citrus, fruit too. Like the Pucelles but with an obvious extra depth to the flavour – a more relaxed impression but achingly wonderful flavour too. Absolutely gorgeous wine… (9/7/23)"
