95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The exceptional quality and nuanced expressions of Le Pupille are hard to find anywhere, not least Maremma, so I am always impressed with their offerings, though perhaps nowhere more so than with the Poggio Valente. Absolutely brimming with energy and promise. (Apr 2025)"

95 points James Suckling: "Aromas of cherries, chocolate and walnuts. Some lavender and rose petal undertones. Medium-bodied, with super fine tannins and hints of chocolate and vanilla. Give this time to open. Better after 2026. (Jul 2023)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2021 Poggio Valente is fabulous. I can’t remember tasting a Poggio Valente with this much finesse. Rose petal, spice and red cherry fruit open in an effusive bouquet that is immediately appealing. Silky, medium in body and gracious, with finesse to burn, the 2021 shows what is possible within the appellation. I love its total class. Drink 2025-2036 (Dec 2024)"

94 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "This all-Sangiovese wine is celebrating its 25th anniversary. I am told it's made with a Burgundian model in mind. The Fattoria le Pupille 2021 Poggio Valente offers good fruit concentration, freshness and an open-knit personality. The wine completed 20 days of fermentation with light work on the cap in terms of punch-downs and pump-overs in stainless steel. It then ages in tonneaux with only 20% new oak. There is plenty of red fruit character along with iris, blue flower and earth, and the tannins are present, albeit powdery. Elisabetta Geppetti says the challenge of making Sangiovese in this warm part of Tuscany is establishing a "point of light" in the wine. Drink 2024-2036 (Mar 2024)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "Ripe flavors of plum, black cherry and blackberry highlight this dense red, whose lively structure brings an energetic feel. Earth, iron, eucalyptus and spice notes add complexity as this lingers, with an aftertaste of fruit, wild scrub and spices. Sangiovese. Best from 2026 through 2040. (Oct 2024)"

93 points Falstaff Guide: "Shiny, medium ruby with reflections. Delicate and subtle on the nose at first. With a little oxygen, the wine opens up with aromas of black cherries and cedar wood. Elegant fruity sweetness on the palate with fine tannins. Beautiful tension until the finish. (Oct 2024)"

93 points Raffaele Vecchione (WinesCritic.com): "Ingenious and floral in character, it shows notes of geraniums, passionflower, white musk, sandalwood and dark chocolate. Medium body, balanced and truly tasty, it shows finesse and class in the gracefulness of modern relaxation. So much finesse here. Better from 2025. (Mar 2024)"
